Momentum-flux condition for Landau-Squire jet flow (Q1083944)

We derive explicit expressions for the components of the momentum-flux tensor in the case of general Slezkin flow. It turns out that the lateral flux of longitudinal momentum can be expressed in terms of the coefficients of the governing differential equation only. This remarkable result does not seem to have been recognized before. It makes the introduction of a ''jet condition'' possible that has to be satsfied a priori by a Landau-Squire jet flow. The new criterion is applied to some of the jet flows mentioned above. Some new light is shed on the classical Landau-Squire jet.
