Let f be a conformal mapping of the unit disk d onto a domain D' in \({\mathbb{C}}\). As well known, f has radial limits \(f(e^{i\theta})\) for all \(\theta\) outside a set of capacity zero. In the present paper the author shows that for almost every \(\theta\) the point \(f(e^{i\theta})\in \partial D'\) is broadly accessible from D'. By definition D' is broadly accessible from D' at \(w_ 0\in \partial D'\) if \[ \liminf_{r\to 0}\delta (r,w_ 0)/r=1\text{ where } \delta (r,w_ 0)=\inf \{\ell_{D'}(w,w_ 0): \Delta (w,r)\subset D'\} \] \(\ell_{D'}(w,w_ 0)=\inf \{length(\gamma):\gamma\) is a curve with \(w_ 0\), \(w\in \gamma\), \(\gamma \subset D'\cup \{w_ 0\}\}\) and \(\Delta\) (w,r) is the disk with center w and radius r. The proof makes use of the extremal length method. This result has recently extended to the case of quasiconformal mappings in \(R^ n\) by O. Martio and also by J. Heinonen.
