A result of \textit{B. E. Rhoades} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 56, 741-750 (1976; Zbl 0353.47029)] is proved under relaxed conditions using a more general iteration than Ishikawa's. A concept of 'intrusion' is also discussed.
