It is shown that a hyponormal weighted shift of norm one is unitarily equivalent to a Toeplitz operator if and only if its weights \(\{a_ n\}_ 0^{\infty}\) satisfy \(1-| a_ n|^ 2=(1-| a_ 0|^ 2)^{n+1}\forall n\geq 0\). In particular, this answers a problem of \textit{M. B. Abrahamse} [Duke Math. J. 43, 597-604 (1976; Zbl 0332.47017)]. As a consequence, the answer, obtained first by C. C. Cowen in an explicit form, to Halmos' 5th Question [cf. \textit{P. R. Halmos}, Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 76, 887-933 (1970; Zbl 0204.150)] is exhibited too. [For part I see ibid. 5, 101-108 (1984; Zbl 0542.47019)].
