Approximate solutions for the problems of deformation of an infinite poroelastic medium containing a very thin internal crack are obtained by a limiting procedure considered by earlier workers. As an example, solutions are obtained when the crack is opened by a pressure which is constant with respect to the distance but may depend on time. The distribution of the fluid pressure on the plane of the crack has been shown graphically.
