Boundary conditions at outflow for a problem with transport and diffusion (Q1085744)

We present a numerical test of a class of approximate boundary conditions at an artificial boundary for the solution of time-dependent problems in semi-infinite spatial domains. The conditions are constructed by use of a general method developed by the author in another work. A problem modeling the transport and diffusion of soluble matter by a parallel flow is taken as the test case. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the method in obtaining accurate results on small computational domains.
