For part III see [ibid. 9, 205--212 (1969; Zbl 0187.00402)]. The main result of this paper is that if \(R\) is a subring of an integral domain \(R'\) which is not contained in the quotient field of \(R\), and if, for every subring \(R''\) of \(R'\) with \(R\subseteq R''\subseteq R'\) it is the case that \(R'\) is \(R''\)-flat, then \(R'\) must be a field.
