Considered is the problem to construct A- and MV-optimal designs in an n- way ANOVA-setting, where one is interested in the comparison of \(\nu\) treatments with a control. In the paper several general theorems are given which provide sufficient conditions for the construction of such designs given an A- or MV-optimal design in an m-way setting, where \(m<n\). The use of those conditions is illustrated in some examples for the case \(m=1\), \(n=2\).
