    We construct a Fréchet-differentiable norm on the space \({\mathcal C}([0,\Omega])\). However there is no norm on this space such that its dual is strictly convex. This seems to be the first example where the Fréchet-differentiability of a norm does not come from a convexity property of the dual norm. Another unrelated result is the fact that there is no Gâteaux-differentiable norm on the space of left continuous functions on [0,1] that have a right limit. Hence the class of spaces that have a Gâteaux-differentiable norm fail the three spaces property.
