Let X be a reflexive Banach space, \(C\subset X\) a closed convex subset, T a metric space with \(t^ 0\in T\) an accumulation point, and f a function from \(C\times C\times T\) into the real numbers. The author considers stability of solutions of the generalized one-parameter variational problem: \[ (P_ t)\quad Find\quad x\in C\quad such\quad that\quad f(x,y,t)\leq 0\text{ for all } y\in C;\quad t\in T. \] Assume that f satisfies certain monotonicity, concavity, and continuity properties. Assume also that there exists \(y_ 0\) in C such that for the mapping \(N:T\to 2^ C\) defined by \(N(t)=\{x\in C:f(y_ 0,x,t)\geq 0\}\), the image set \(N(t^ 0)\) is bounded. In addition, assume one of the following (now equivalent) conditions be satisfied: (i) There exists a neighbourhood U of \(t^ 0\) such that N(U) is bounded in X; (ii) N is upper semicontinuous at \(t^ 0\); or (iii) There is an open set \(\Omega \supset N(t^ 0)\) and a neighbourhood V of \(t^ 0\) such that \(\Omega\cap N(V)\) is bounded in X. Let the solution set mapping be defined by \(S(t)=\{x\in C:f(x,y,t)\leq 0\) for all \(y\in C\}\). Theorem: There exists a neighbourhood \({\mathcal U}\) of \(t^ 0\) such that S(t) is non-empty, convex, and weakly compact for each \(t\in U\) and the mapping S:\({\mathcal U}\to 2^ C\) is upper semicontinuous at \(t^ 0\).
