Let C be a mapping of an interval [0,T] to nonempty closed convex subsets of a Hilbert space H, with right-continuous bounded variation, continuous at T, such that for all \(t\in [0,T]\), \(r>0\), C(t)\(\cap rB\) is strongly compact, B the unit ball in H. For \(\lambda >0\), let \(u_{\lambda}\) be the solution of \[ \frac{du(t)}{dt}+\frac{1}{\lambda}(u_{\lambda}(t)- proj(u_{\lambda}(t),C(t)))=0, \] a.e. in [0,T], \(u_{\lambda}(0)=a\), where proj(x,C(t)) is the nearest point to x in C(t). This paper shows that as \(\lambda\to 0\), (1) \(u_{\lambda}\) is pointwise strongly convergent to w, w the solution of the ''sweeping process'' with initial value a; (2) \(u\to w\) ''in the sense of filled-in graphs''; (3) \(proj(u_{\lambda}(t),C(t))\to w(t)\) uniformly in [0,T].
