    Let \(L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\) denote the Orlicz space with modular \(\rho (x)=\int^{\pi}_{-\pi}\phi (| x(t)|)dt,\) where \(\phi\) (u) is a \(\phi\)-convex function satisfying the condition \(\Delta_ 2\) for all u. The author considers the approximation of \(x\in L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\) in \(L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\) by trigonometric polynomials. He obtains: (1) Let \(x\in L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\) and \(W_ n(t)\) be the singular integral of Korovkin (i.e. \(W_ n(t)=(1/n)\int^{\pi}_{-\pi}x(t+u)K_ n(u)du,\) where \(K_ n(u)=A_ n| d_ 0+d_ 1e^{iu}+...+d_ ne^{niu}|^ 2,\) \(d_ k=\sin (k+1/n+2),\) \(A_ n=(d^ 2_ 0+d^ 2_ 1+...+d^ 2_ n)),\) then \(W_ n(\cdot)\to x(\cdot)\) as \(n\to \infty\) in \(L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\). (2) Let \(x\in L^{\phi}_{2\pi}\) and \(W_ n(t)\) be the singular integral of Korovkin, and let H(v) be the function defined by \(H(v)=\sup_{u>0}(\phi (uv)/\phi (u)).\) If \(H(v)=O(v^ p)\) as \(v\to \infty\), where \(1\leq p\leq 2\), then \(\rho (k(W_ n-x))=O(n^{p-1})\omega_{\phi}(1/n,kx)\) as \(n\to \infty\), for every \(k>0\), and \(\| W_ n-x\|_{L^{\phi}_{2\pi}}=O(n^{p- 1})\| x\|_{\frac{\rho_ 1}{1}}\) as \(n\to \infty\), where \(\rho_{\delta}=\omega_{\phi}(\delta,x)=\sup_{| u| <\delta}\int^{\pi}_{-\pi}\phi (| x(t+u)-x(t)|)dt\) and \(\| \cdot \|_{\rho_{\delta}}\) is the pseudonorm generated by \(\rho_{\delta}\).
