    The paper is devoted to the study of the n-th order linear difference equation \(Pu(m)=\sum^{n}_{i=0}\alpha_ i(m)u(m+i)=0,\) where \(m\in I=[a,b]\equiv \{a,a+1,...,b\}\), a,b\(\in Z\), under the assumptions \(\alpha_ n(m)=1\) for \(m\in I\) and \((-1)^ n\alpha_ 0(m)>0\), \(m\in I\). The author proves the following Theorem: Assume \(2\leq k\leq n-1\) and \(Pu(m)=0\) is (j,n-j)-disconjugate on \([a+k-j,b+n+k-j]\) for \(j=k-1,...,n- 1\). Then the Green function \(G_{k,n-k}(m,\nu)\) for the (k,n-k)-boundary value problem \(Pu(m)=h(m)\), \(u(a+j)=0\), \(0\leq i\leq k-1\), \(u(b+n-j)=0\), \(0\leq j\leq n-k-1\), satisfies \((-1)^{n-k}G_{k,n-k}(m,\nu)>0\) for \(m\in [a+k,b+k]\), \(\nu\in [a,b]\).
