Some notes on the non-central negative binomial distribution (Q1089983)

The birth and death stochastic process, with constant birth and death intensities, with provision for immigration and when the initial population size is Poisson distributed, leads to a probability generating function which the author calls the probability generating function of a non-central negative binomial distribution. Series expansions are given and connections to a generalized exponential, non-central beta, and non-central gamma distributions are established. Moments and some limiting properties are also considered.
