A prime ring R is a G-ring if the intersection of the nonzero prime ideals of R is non-zero. The first main result proved here is that a fully bounded ring R is a G-ring if and only if there is a primitive ideal P in \(R[x_ 1,...,x_ n]\), for any \(n\geq 1\), such that \(P\cap R=0.\) The Amitsur-Small Nullstellensatz states that if D is a division ring then for each integer \(n\geq 1\), every simple module over \(D[x_ 1,...,x_ n]\) is finite dimensional over D. This result in n variables is used to prove the above result in n variables. However, the Amitsur- Small result in \(n+1\) variables follows from the n variable result above. Thus a more conceptual proof of the Amitsur-Small result is obtained simultaneously with the above result on G-rings. The stimulus for these results was the problem of describing when the polynomial ring over a fully bounded ring is primitive and partial results are obtained concerning this problem.
