An example of a second category set A such that the category projection of \(A\times A\) in every direction has empty interior is given (under Martin's axiom). Recently the author has obtained the following generalization of the above result (in ZFC): There exists a second category set A such that the category projection of \(A\times A\) in every non-horizontal and non- vertical direction, except the direction \(y=x,\) is empty [Real Anal. Exch. 12(1986/87), 387-392 (1987; following announcement)].
