Infinite sums of products of continuous q-ultraspherical functions (Q1090816)

This paper is another interesting addition to the rapidly expanding literature on the subject of basic hypergeometric functions. The main tool of the present work is a q-analogue of a formula of Feldheim [\textit{M. Rahman}, Can. J. Math. 37, 551-576 (1985; Zbl 0552.33003)]. This is used to deduce two new summation formulae. The general term of the first involves the product of three q-analogues of Gegenbauer polynomials of the first kind and that of the second the product of two such polynomials of the first kind and one of the second kind. Since the Gegenbauer functions may be expressed in terms of especial interest in that they may be considered as generalizations of sums of triple products of Legendre functions. It is considered that all of the results presented are too lengthy and complicated to be included explicitly in a short review.
