The author proposes a new classification of RLC reciprocal n-ports in normal and non-normal systems. A linear n-port is normal if and only if the impedance matrix \(Z(s)\) is hermitian \((ZZ'=Z'Z\); Z' being the adjoint matrix). For reciprocal two-element passive n-ports, i.e. \((R,L)\), \((R,C)\), or \((L,C)\) systems, which can be split into a sum of two matrices (e.g. \(Z(s)=R+sL)\), the author describes a way how based on well known results from linear algebra Z may be diagonalized to allow for a canonic synthesis representation of the system. Whereas the paper appears well organized, the author despite several examples does not succeed to convey the usefulness of the proposed classification for n-ports with matrices other than of type \(Z(s)=R+sL\).
