The author studies a minimization problem for a class of integral functionals in infinite dimensional spaces. More precisely, given the integrand \(f: T\times X\times Y\to [-\infty,+\infty]\), where T is a topological space, X is a Suslin metric space and Y is a reflexive, separable Banach space, she considers a functional of the type \[ I: L\to [-\infty,+\infty],\quad I(p)=\int_{T}f(t({\mathcal G}(p))(t),p(t))d\mu \] where \(L=\{p\in L_ 1:\int_{T}g(t,p(t))d\mu <+\infty\) and \({\mathcal G}\) is a suitable bounded and compact operator. The techniques adopted is that of making use of the relaxed functional associated to I [see also e.g. \textit{E. Acerbi, G. Buttazzo} and \textit{N. Fusco}, J. Math. Pures Appl., IX. Ser. 62, 371-387 (1983; Zbl 0481.49013) and \textit{M. Valadier}, Sémin. Anal. Convexe, Univ. Sci. Tech. Languedoc 11, No.1, Exp. No.5 (1981)]. In more details she considers the functional \[ I^ 0: L\to [- \infty,+\infty],\quad I^ 0(p)=\int_{T}(f(t({\mathcal G}(p))(t),\cdot))^{**}(p(t))d\mu \] and proves that it has a minimum; moreover inf I\(=\min I^ 0\) and the minima of \(I^ 0\) are cluster points for a minimizing sequence of I. Note that \(I^ 0\) is proved to be the relaxed functional of I with respect to three different topologies.
