Let (X,\(\mu)\) and (Y,\(\nu)\) be measurable spaces with \(\sigma\)-finite positive measures and let M(Y,\(\nu)\) denote the space of all \(\nu\)- measurable \(\nu\)-a.e. finite functions on Y. In the present paper the following two results are proved. Theorem 1. Let \(1<p<\infty\). For the linear operator \(T: L_ p(x,\mu)\to M(Y,\nu)\) the following conditions are equivalent. 1) T is an integral operator with the kernel K(s,t) defined on (Y\(\times Y,\nu \times \mu)\) and satisfying \[ \int_{X}| K(s,t)|^{p'}d\mu (t)<\infty \] \(\nu\)-a.e. on Y where \(1/p+1/p'=1.\) 2) T maps the unit ball \(S_ p\) of the space \(L_ p(X,\mu)\) into the absolutely convex hull of a sequence \(\{\phi_ n\}\subset M(Y,\nu)\) \(\nu\)-a.e. convergence to 0. Theorem 2. Let \(1<p<\infty\). For the linear operator \(T: L_ p(X,\mu)\to L_ p(Y,\nu)\) the following conditions are equivalent. 1) T is an integral operator with the kernel K(s,t) satisfying \[ \int_{Y}(\int_{X}| K(s,t)|^{p'}d\mu (t))^{p/p'}d\nu (s)<\infty. \] 2) T maps \(S_ p\) into the absolutely convex hull of a sequence \(\{\phi_ n\}\nu\)-a.e. converging to 0 and such that \(| \phi_ n(s)| \leq \psi (s)\nu\)-a.e. on Y, \(n\geq 1\), for a function \(\psi \in L_ p(Y,\nu)\).
