On the inverse of band matrices (Q1093320)

As in the case of tridiagonal matrices, the inverses of general band matrices have certain special properties. In this paper, results of \textit{E. Asplund} [Math. Scand. 7, 57-60 (1959; Zbl 0093.241)] are used to prove the relationship between strict band matrices and semi-separable matrices. A constructive method to compute the inverse of a strict band matrix is given.
