Let V be a non-singular projective rational surface defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and let D be a reduced effective divisor on V having only simple normal crossing singularities. Such a pair \((V,D)\) is called an Iitaka surface of \({\bar\kappa}(V-D)= \kappa(V,D+K_ V)=0\), \(\overline{p_ g}(V-d)=h^ 0(D+K_ V)=1\) and if \((V,D)\) is almost minimal in the sense of Miyanishi-Tsunoda. This paper gives a classification of such pairs and describes the structure of them very precisely. There are lots of interesting examples. Main technical tools are the theory of peeling which is related to the Zariski decomposition of \(D+K_ V\), and Mori's theory on extremal curves. Iitaka surfaces are a non-complete version of K3-surfaces. \((V,D)\) is called a log K3-surface if \({\bar \kappa}=0\), \(\overline{p_ g}=1\) and \=q(V-D)\(=h^ 0(V,\Omega^ 1_ V(\log (D))=0\). An almost minimal model \((V',D')\) of a log K3-surface is not always a log K3-surface, since \(\bar q\) may become positive. In such a case, however, \((V',D')\) is shown to be an Iitaka surface. Thus, one gets a classification of log K3-surfaces from the results in the paper.
