Two completely regular spaces X and Y are called t-equivalent if the spaces \(C_ p(X)\) and \(C_ p(Y)\) of all continuous functions on X and Y in the topology of pointwise convergence are homeomorphic \((C_ p(X)\sim C_ p(Y))\). Let s denote the topological power \({\mathbb{R}}^{\omega_ 0}\) and \(c_ 0\) denote the topological subspace in s consisting of all sequences converging to zero. The following results are obtained: (1) \(c_ 0\sim s\times c_ 0\). (2) If X contains a convergent sequence then \(C_ p(X)\sim s\times C_ p(X)\). (3) \(C_ p({\mathbb{R}})\sim C_ p([0,1])\). If follows that compactness is not preserved by the relation of t-equivalence. This gives the solution of the problem set up by A. V. Arkhangel'skij.
