A novel control technique, periodic output feedback, is investigated in the context of infinite-dimensional linear dynamic systems with unbounded input and output operators. This control scheme differs from classical control schemes in that the output of the system in question need not be monitored continuously but only monitored at sampling instants. It is shown that for systems satisfying an analog of detectability and stabilizability, periodic output feedback provides a stabilization scheme which is robust under perturbations of the sampling time sequence and is easily implementable.
