Let \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^{n-1}\) be a bounded \(C^ 3\)-domain with connected complement and introduce the cylinders \[ C_+:={\bar \Omega}\times {\mathbb{R}}_+\subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n,\quad C_-:=\bar B_ R\otimes (-\infty,0]\subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n, \] where \(B_ R\) is a ball of radius R around 0 in \({\mathbb{R}}^{n-1}\) such that \(\Omega \subset B_ R\). Let \(G:={\mathbb{R}}^{n+1}\setminus \{C_+\cup C_-\}\) and consider a function \(u\in L^ 2(G)\) with the following properties: 1) \(\Delta u+k^ 2u=0\) in G, \(k^ 2>0\), 2) \(u\in C(\bar G)\), 3) u decays exponentially on \(\partial C_+\) as \(z\to \infty.\) Under these conditions the author proves that \(u\equiv 0\).
