Several interesting results in classical elasticity are proved. It is shown that for overdetermined systems in linear elasticity the prescribed data determines the geometry of the domain \(\Omega\) of the validity of the solutions. Conditions under which \(\Omega\) is an open ball, an open ellipsoid, and an open circle are established.
