The problem of discontinuity wave propagation in hyperelastic shells is discussed within the framework of the nonlinear theory. A suitable linearization is proposed, such that explicit results can be obtained with direct calculations. Namely the speeds of propagation for acceleration and shock waves are evaluated within the dependence of their values on the geometrical properties of the shell.
