Let G be a finite group and p a prime. A p-block b of G is called quasi- primitive if, for every normal subgroup N of G, b covers one and only one p-block b(N) of N. In this case, the b-regular core \(O_{b'}(G)\) is defined to be the product of all normal subgroups N of G such that b(N) has defect zero. It is shown that \(b(O_{b'}(G))\) then has defect zero as well. Moreover, \(O_{p'}(G)\) is contained in \(O_{b'}(G)\). The principal p-block \(b_ 0\) of G is always quasi-primitive, and \(O_{b'_ 0}(G)=O_{p'}(G)\).
