The analysis of the unilateral problem \(P_ u\) considered in the first part of this research [the authors, Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 34, 421-438 (1983; Zbl 0534.73032)] - related to the one-dimensional motion of a viscoelastic linear solid B in the presence of a rigid wall - is completed. For this, an admissible dynamic of the impact compatible with the elastic heredity of B is stated by means of an operator G connected with the ``history'' of B. The behaviour of G on the first line of influence of the wall is pointed out, together with the related physical meaning. Further, the propagation of the impact is analyzed by means of extension laws in terms of G and distribution solutions of appropriate boundary-value problems. Finally, the explicit construction of the solution of \(P_ u\) is achieved.
