It was pointed out by Davidson that the Redfield-Read Superposition Theorem provides a simple method for counting both isomers and isomerizations. More recently material has emerged from the Redfield nachlass which can be used to illluminate the connexion between Davidson's work and the double-coset methods used in the chemical literature.
