Cognitive ability of memory is defined as the ability to identify an input pattern by its proximity to anyone of the stored memories. An improvement of the so-called Hopfield model (auto-correlation matrix memory) is proposed by including Dale's principle of similarity of synapses belonging to one neuron. The model obtained is claimed to be highly cognitive (in comparison to Hopfield's model) as it shows a clear response to an indistinctive input.
