Under suitable assumptions, the existence of periodic travelling wave solutions for the nerve axion diffusion equations is known. In this paper the author analyses their instability. The proof goes by linearizing the diffusion equations and showing that under some circumstances one of the eigenvalue of a relevant matrix has an eigenvalue of modulus one.
