Let BP be the Brown-Peterson spectrum for a fixed prime \(p\). A CW-spectrum \(E\) is said to be a BP-Hopf module spectrum if \(E\) is an associative left BP- module spectrum together with a left BP-module map \(E\to BP\wedge E\) satisfying the obvious identities. For any CW-spectrum \(X\) the spectrum BP\(\wedge X\) is an example of a BP-Hopf module spectrum. For every invariant regular sequence \(J\) in \(BP_*\) the associative BP-module spectrum BPJ with homotopy \(BP_*/J\) is a BP-Hopf module spectrum if the sequence \(J\) has length less than \(2(p-1)\). One of the main results of the paper is that if \(J\) has length \(n\), \(p\) is odd and \(n^ 2+n<2p\), then there exists a unique BP-local CW-spectrum \(Y_ J\) such that \(BP\wedge Y_ J\) is isomorphic to \(v_ n^{-1}BPJ\) as a BP-Hopf module spectrum (here \(v_ n\in BP_*\) is the \(n\)-th Hazewinkel polynomial generator).
