Reissner's theory for the bending of anisotropic, homogeneous plates and plane stress theory are used to construct improved three-dimensional displacement and stress fields. Under specific regular boundary conditions on the edge surface, these fields differ from the exact elasticity solutions by terms of the order of the plate thickness cubed.
