For a finite group G, the author studies the group \(v(G,h^{\infty})\) of finite dimensional homotopy representations of G, the group v(G,h) of finite homotopy representations of G, and the group v(G,\(\ell)\) of linear homotopy representations of G introduced by \textit{T. tom Dieck} and \textit{T. Petrie} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Etud. Sci. 56, 129-170 (1982; Zbl 0507.57025)]. More specifically, he proves that the natural homomorphism \(k_ G: v(G,h)\to v(G,h^{\infty})\) is an isomorphism if and only if the Swan subgroup of \(\tilde K_ 0({\mathbb{Z}}G)\) vanishes. Moreover, if G is Abelian, the natural homomorphism \(j_ G: v(G,\ell)\to v(G,h)\) is an isomorphism if and only if G is isomorphic to one of the following groups: a cyclic group, an Abelian 2-group \(G_ 2\), an abelian 3-group \(G_ 3\), \({\mathbb{Z}}/2\times G_ 3,G_ 2\times {\mathbb{Z}}/3\), or \(({\mathbb{Z}}/2)^ n\times ({\mathbb{Z}}/3)^ m\). Also, the group \(v(G,h^{\infty})\) vanishes if and only if G is isomorphic to one of the following groups: \({\mathbb{Z}}/n\) or the dihedral group of order 2n, where \(n=2,3,4\), or 6, the symmetric group \(S_ 4\) or the alternating group \(A_ 4\).
