The problem of scattering plane waves off a reactively loaded sphere is studied by using the on-surface radiation condition method. This technique relates the surface pressure and velocity by a linear partial differential equation. This equation is approximately solved by the WKBJ method which yields an explicit formula for the surface pressure. Although this result is strictly valid for high frequencies it gives good qualitative results for acoustically hard spheres and excellent quantitative approximations for reactively loaded spheres in the resonant frequency regime.
