Let R be a unit-regular ring and G a finite subgroup of Aut(R) with \(| G|^{-1}\in R\). Let R*G be the skew group ring of G and R. This paper is concerned with relationships between pseudo-rank functions of R*G and of \(R^ G\). The author introduces such relationships by studying certain homomorphisms between the Grothendieck groups \(K_ 0(R*G)\) and \(K_ 0(R^ G)\), where \(R^ G\) is the fixed subring of R. It follows from these results that if R is a directly finite left self- injective regular ring and G is an X-outer group then \(R*G\cong M_ n(R^ G)\) as rings, where \(n=| G|\), and \(R\cong R^ G[G]\) as left \(R^ G[G]\)-modules. Furthermore, if R is a finitely generated projective \(R^ G\)-module then there exists a bijection from some subset of Max(R*G) into the set \(Max(R^ G)\) of all maximal ideals of \(R^ G\).
