The operators T induced on functional Hilbert spaces \(H=L_ 2(S,\Sigma,\mu)\) by \(Tf(\cdot)=f(h(\cdot))\) are called composition operators, where \(h: S\to S\) is a nonsingular transformation. For \(T\in B(H)\) a probability measure m defined on the Borel \(\sigma\)-algebra \({\mathcal B}\) of H is said to be invariant under T if \(mT^{-1}=m\), in which case we say that T defines a linear measure preserving transformation (m.p.t.) with respect to m. For these mappings \(T: H\to H\) the author gave conditions under which they accept invariant Borel probability measures and related the two structures of T, i.e., that of a bounded linear operator to that of a measure preserving transformation. The main results are the following. Theorem 1. If T is a composition operator, then the subspace spanned by the supports of the invariant Borel probability measures for T coincides with the subspace spanned by the eigenvectors of T having eigenvalues of norm 1. Theorem 2. The class of m.p.t. defined by the composition operators that are induced by conservative transformations, coincides with the class of m.p.t. that are generated by rigid functions.
