There are shown some results, new or from current research of the author, concerning homogeneous curves using an original in the theory of continua methods via study the universal covering space of the surface on which the curves are situated, i.e. the Poincaré model of hyperbolic geometry. This method allows to show that a homogeneous acyclic curve is tree-like; this is a new result in the theory of homogeneous curves (acyclic means that each map into the circle is inessential). Also the following result from an earlier paper of the author is obtained: hereditarily indecomposable homogeneous continua are tree-like [Houston J. Math. 8, 421-428 (1982; Zbl 0518.54029)].
