The author proposes a finite element procedure based on collocation method for numerical evaluation of the eigenvalues of several differential operators (second and fourth order in one dimension and Helmholtz in two dimensions). The method is illustrated by many numerical examples. The results are very promising, the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions being predicted accurately in all cases.
