This note borders on a property by \textit{K. Shiratani} and \textit{S. Yamamoto} [Mem. Fac. Sci., Kyushu Univ., Ser. A 39, 113--125 (1985; Zbl 0574.12017)], which investigated Euler numbers \(H^ n(u)\) (also called Eulerian ones), its \(p\)-adic interpolation and various applications to the \(p\)-adic \(L\)-functions. Here the generalized Euler numbers \(H^ n_{\chi}(u)\) belonging to \(u\) are defined by \[ \sum^{f-1}_{a=0}(1- u^ t)\chi (a)e^{at}u^{f-a-1}/(e^{ft}-u^ f) = \sum^{U}_{n=0}H^ n_{\chi}(u)t^ n/n! \] for any Dirichlet character \(\chi\) with conductor \(f\), hence \(H^ n_ 1(u)=H^ n(u)\) for \(n\geq 0\). These numbers are analogous to the generalized Bernoulli numbers (in Berger-Leopoldt's sense), so that it is possible to obtain the congruences of Kummer's type, \(p\)-adic interpolation etc. for \(H^ n_{\chi}(u)\). Moreover the author also constructs a \(p\)-adic interpolation of Euler numbers in Iwasawa method which makes use of formal power series.
