Let R be a commutative ring. An ideal I is defined to be coprimely packed if for each collection of primes \(\{P_ S\}\) with \(I+P_ S\neq R\), then \(I\not\subseteq \cup P_ S.\quad R\) is coprimely packed if every ideal is. A nonempty subset \(X\subseteq Spec(R)\) is said to be coprimely packed if whenever an element P of X is coprime to each element of a subset Y of X, then \(P\not\subseteq \cup \{Q| Q\in Y\}.\quad It\) is shown that a Noetherian arithmetical ring (e.g., a Dedekind domain) has Spec(R) coprimely packed if and only if a positive power of every ideal is principal. It is shown that a compactly packed ring (i.e. if an ideal is contained in a union of primes, then it is contained in one of them) is coprimely packed and that for a one dimensional integral domain the converse is true. It is also remarked that a semilocal ring is coprimely packed, but need not be compactly packed.
