The author explicitly constructs sequences of numbers \(a_ n\) in an algebraic number field K, such that for any irreducible polynomial f(X,Y) in K[X,Y] with degree \(\deg_ X(f)\) smaller than m almost all polynomials \(f(X,a_ n)\) remain irreducible. The proof uses Roth's theorem on diophantine approximations. The numbers \(a_ n\) essentially consist of two parts, one highly divisible by primes in a finite fixed set, the other with strongly varying prime decomposition. A typical example of the construction in case \(K={\mathbb{Q}}\) is given by the sequence \(a_ n=2\) \(np_ n\), where \(p_ n\) is the n-th prime number.
