    The author gives a high order approximation of \(J_{\nu}(x)\), \(\nu =0,1\); in \(x\geq 0\). His idea is essentially the Padé approximation of the real functions \(u(x)=\sum^{\infty}_{k=0}B_ kx^{-k}\) and \(v(x)=\sum^{\infty}_{k=0}b_ kx^{-k}\) which satisfy the relation \(J_{\nu}(x)=(1+x)^{-}[u(x) \cos x+v(x)\sin x]\). Actually the coefficients are given by \[ B_ k-ib_ k=\frac{2(- 1)^{\nu}}{\sqrt{\pi}(1+i)}[\left( \begin{matrix} 1/2\\ k\end{matrix} \right)+\sum^{k}_{j=1}\left( \begin{matrix} 1/2\\ k-j\end{matrix} \right)\frac{(-1)^ j}{2^ j j!} \prod^{j}_{\ell =1}\ell (\ell- 1)+\frac{1}{4}-\nu^ 2]. \] He gives a few values of the coefficients and the error curves for his formulas. For example, the (2,2)-Padé approximation for \(J_ 0(x)\) has maximal error about \(3.5\times 10^{- 3}\), and for \(x\geq 5\), the error is less than \(5\times 10^{-4}\).
