Let \(m,n,q\) be integers, with \(m,n\geq 1\), \(q\geq 3\), \({\mathbb{P}}\) the projective space of lines of \(L({\mathbb{C}}^ m\otimes {\mathbb{C}}^ q,{\mathbb{C}}^ n)\), on which the reductive group \(G=SL(m)\times SL(n)\) acts, \({\mathbb{P}}^{ss}\) the open subset of \({\mathbb{P}}\) of semi-stable points in the sense of Mumford, and \(N(q,m,n)={\mathbb{P}}^{ss}/G\). In this paper the integral cohomology ring of \(N(q,m,n)\) is studied, when \(m\) and \(n\) are relatively prime. Some moduli varieties of semi-stable sheaves on \({\mathbb{P}}_ 2({\mathbb{C}})\) are isomorphic to varieties of type \(N(q,m,n)\) (the so called varieties ``of height 0''). One shows that \(H^*(N(q,m,n),{\mathbb{Z}})\) has no torsion, is zero in odd degrees, and generators of this ring are given. Moreover the Betti numbers of \(N(q,m,n)\) can be computed. The method used to prove these results is Atiyah-Bott's, who studied the cohomology ring of moduli varieties of stable vector bundles on an algebraic curve.
