The author establishes that a Moufang loop of order pq 2 or pqr, where p,q and r are odd primes, is necessarily a group. - He appeals to substantial theorems of Bruck, Chein, Glauberman and Hall, but his own arguments are for the most part fairly elementary considerations to do with the structure of the possible subloops (which, in fact, all turn out to be groups) of the Moufang loops in question. There is an unfortunate misprint in the defining relations of a group given in the statement of Lemma 2.7, where b p should read b q. In the proofs of Theorems 3.1 and 3.2, the author uses the expression ``so'' incorrectly, implying that what precedes this word contains some inherent contradiction, when all that has been shown is that the conditions assumed lead to one possible confirmation of the result of the theorem. In the proof of theorem 3.3, the author avoids this problem by starting his proof ``Assume L is not a group''. The last paragraph of the paper contains the claim that the author has proved that Moufang loops of order 2p 2 must be groups. This result was previously obtained by Chein and the reviewer [in Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 97, 219-223 (1985; Zbl 0562.20036) and Correction, 98, 381 (1985; Zbl 0571.20069)].
