Let \(w^{\alpha,\beta}(x) = (1-x)^{\alpha}(1+x)^{\beta}\) be the weight function for the Jacobi polynomials \(P_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(x)\) on [-1,1]. Generalized Jacobi weights are defined as \[ w(x)=w^{\alpha,\beta}(x)\prod^{s}_{k=1}| x-t_ k|^{\gamma_ k} \psi(x),\text{ where } -1<t_ 1<t_ 2<...<t_ s<1,\;\gamma_ k>-1 \] and \(\psi\) is a nonnegative continuous function that satisfies a Dini-Lipschitz condition. Denote by \(p_ n(w;x)\) the orthogonal polynomials with weight function w on [-1,1] and define \[ Q_ m(u;w;t) = p.v.\int^{1}_{-1}\frac{p_ m(w;x)}{x-t}u(x)dx, \] the integral is a Cauchy principal value and u is a nonnegative and integrable function on \([-1,1]\) which may have a finite number of singularities. If \(u=w=w^{\alpha,\beta}\) then \(Q_ m\) are known as the Jacobi functions of the second kind. Such functions show up in studying interpolatory product rules for evaluating Cauchy principal value integrals. The authors give some uniform bounds for these generalized Jacobi functions of the second kind and their derivatives. A simple example that follows from their results is \[ \limsup_{m\to \infty}m^{-p}\| Q_ m^{(p)} (w^{\gamma,\delta}; w^{\alpha,\beta};t) \|_{\Delta}<\infty, \] where \(\Delta\) is a closed set in \((-1,1)\) and \(\alpha <2\gamma +3/2\), \(\beta <2\delta +3/2\).
