Poisson's equation, hexagonal grids and FFT methods: Periodic boundary conditions (Q1102722)

This note extends an earlier article of the first author [ibid. 64, 320- 333 (1986; Zbl 0618.65082)]. A fourth-order method for solving the discrete Poisson equation on a regular hexagonal grid using the fast Fourier transform, (FFT) is described in these both notes. The former Dirichlet boundary conditions are replaced here by the cases where the boundary conditions are periodic in one direction and in both directions, respectively. Numerical illustrations are given for both types of boundary conditions in addition.
