This paper explores a suggestion in \textit{S. Kripke}'s ``Outline of a theory of truth'' [J. Philos. 72, 690-715 (1975)] that there may be sentences which are ungrounded yet have a truth value, and shows that there are. The distinction between predicates which are interpreted as semantical and those which are not is essential. The many misprints are annoying but do not destroy the sense.
