    If f is analytic in \(D=\{z:| z| <1\}\), and \(1\leq p<\infty\), then \(M_ p(r,f)\) denotes ((1/2\(\pi)\int^{2\pi}_{0}| f(re^{i\theta})|^ p d\theta)^{1/p}\), and \(H^ p(D)\) denotes \(\{f: M_ p(r,f)<\infty\), \(0<r<1\}\). If \(\phi:D\to D\), then the composition operator \(C_{\phi}\) is defined by \(C_{\phi}(f)(z)=f(\phi (z))\), \(z\in D\), and \(P_{\phi}\) denotes \(PC_{\phi}\), where P is the projection operator from \(L^ 2(T)\) into \(H^ 2(T)\), where \(T=\{z:| z| =1\}\), and \(H^ 2(T)=\{f:\int^{2\pi}_{0}f(s)e^{ijs} ds=0\), \(j=1,2,3,...\}.\) In the main results of this paper, the authors show that (i) if \(P: T\to \bar D\) is such that \(\int^{2\pi}_{0}(1-| \phi (e^{is})|^ 2)^{-1} ds=M(\phi)<\infty\), then \(\| P_{\phi}\|_{2\to 2}\leq (M(\phi)/2\pi)^{1/2}\), and (ii) if \(\phi\) describes a closed rectifiable convex curve in \(\bar D,\) and \(m=\inf \{| \phi'(e^{is})|:0<s<2\pi \}>0\), then \(\| P_{\phi}\|_{2\to 2}\leq (2/m)^{1/2}.\) Special cases in which \(\phi(z) = az+b\bar z\), \(z\in I\), are considered and weighted estimates derived.
